Where Light Begins

Before We Begin

Light does not appear all at once.

A place can be dark… then slowly, something starts to show.

You are not looking for a bright light.
You are not looking for a clear subject.
You are looking for the moment something becomes visible.

This is where photography begins.

Pause & Notice

Seeing is not instant.
There is a moment where something becomes visible.
If you slow down, you can notice it.
 
This moment is important.

De-CONNECT

Look around you right now. Can you find:
• A wall where light spreads slowly
• A chair with light resting on it
• A corner where light fades away
• A space where part is bright, and part is dark

These are simple things.
But they show you how light enters and settles.

Basic Notice

Light is not just brightness. It is how something becomes visible.

Ask yourself:
Where does the light enter?
Where does it land?
Where does it stop?

Did you see it?

We see a quiet room.

Light comes in from the side, through a window.
A curtain softens the light.
The light spreads across the wall.

It touches part of a sofa.
Other areas stay dark.
Nothing is moving.

The room feels still.
The light feels calm.

What this teaches us

Light is not just something we see.

It is something that enters a space and stays there.

From the study:

Light enters
Light lands
Light holds

Your eyes do not go to the objects first.
They follow the light.

Where it enters.
Where it settles.
Where it becomes stronger.

That is what you should learn to notice.
